PC Controlled Robot Using Zigbee Wireless Communication

The Xbee/Xbee-PRO RF Modules are designed to operate within the ZigBee protocol and support the unique needs of low-cost, low-power wireless sensor networks. The modules require minimal power and provide reliable delivery of data between remote devices. The modules operate within the ISM 2.4 GHz frequency band Zigbee is a worldwide open standard for wireless radio networks in the monitoring and control fields. The standard was developed by the ZigBee Alliance (an association of international companies) to meet the following principal needs
  • low cost
  • ultra-low power consumption
  • use of unlicensed radio bands
  • cheap and easy installation
  • flexible and extendable networks
  • integrated intelligence for network set-up and message routing
To control the direction of the robot we are using Xbee modules one as transmitter and the other as receiver. The transmitter is fixed to PC and the receiver is fixed to the robot on the other end. We send signals from PC through the Xbee (transmitter) to the receiver which is in built to the robot.
We can use this process to visually control the robot direction even though we are far away by connecting a camera in front of the robot.
